about

12/30/16:

As the #HFP10 celebration is drawing to a close, I realize I haven't completely delivered on my promise of releasing some unreleased music from the vaults. Truthfully, there is not too many finished unreleased tracks I'm sitting on; especially one's I would want the public to hear lol! But what I do have is A LOT of unused beats.

Between 2007-2009, especially during the summer and Christmas vacations, most of my time away from the classroom was me locked in my dorm room or back at home, perfecting my craft; thus building a catalog of instrumentals. This is where I dedicated time to spar, train, and hone in on my skills.

As a matter of fact, that's how it was for who ever was in the crew at that time; as one of those "training sessions" is comedically described by Double-80 on the intro. It was the joy in finding our gifts in our formal years; as the case with any young Mutant who walked through the halls of "Charles Xavier School For Gifted Youngsters." We were like the X-Men: getting busy in "The Danger Room," taking out simulated Sentinels and preparing for the next stage to wreck. So it was only right to entitle this collection of "First Class" sounds from our "Days of Future Past" after the "Uncanny" ones' digital dojo.

Some of these tracks exist as half recorded sessions or the songs that were written yet never recorded. All of these beats at one time or another was either intended for "V.I.S.I.O.N.S." or two previous incarnations of what has become our forthcoming sophomore album. Yes, the title and concept as been around THAT LONG! In due time, I will explain all.

But the best way I can put it to you is this Beat Tape/Instrumental Album is a companion piece to "V.I.S.I.O.N.S;" a la what Kendrick's "Untitled Unmastered" is to "To Pimp A Butterfly." So I am very happy to present to you 24 of my favorite instrumental compositions that I will no longer kick myself in ass for not letting the public hear lol!

Soul Claps & Salutes and Thank You Listening,

DJ Chuck "thE oLd SouL"

Editor's NOTE- The incredibly dope drawing of the X-Men in The Danger Room that I am using as the album cover, was found via a random Google search weeks ago. Now I can't find it again when I search for it. So if anyone out there in Internet land knows who the artist is, PLEASE let me know because I would love to give them credit!
